CNIO Biobank presents plasma lyophilization validation results at UAM Workshop

CNIO Biobank will present validation results demonstrating that plasma lyophilization with 300K technology maintains quality comparable to -80°C freezing. The study supports room temperature storage as a viable alternative for biobanks, with significant impact on sustainability and logistics.

We are excited to announce that Daniel Alba from CNIO Biobank will present the results of our plasma lyophilization validation study at the Workshop in Health Science and Biomedicine, organized by the Facultad de Medicina of Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) on May 28th, 2026.

This collaborative study between CNIO Biobank and 300K Solutions evaluated plasma lyophilization as a room-temperature storage alternative to freezing at -80°C. The study analyzed plasma samples from 20 donors collected with different anticoagulants (EDTA and citrate), comparing frozen and lyophilized samples over a 6-month period.
