Analytical Performance
Agreement between test results obtained with STAR BEADS Pathogen DNA/RNA Extraction Kit and the Reference nucleic acid isolation kit for hCMV diagnosis. DNA isolation from 22 clinical whole blood samples all positive for hCMV was performed in parallel using STAR BEADS Pathogen DNA/RNA Extraction Kit, and a Reference nucleic acid isolation kit (ELITe InGenius SP 200 EMD) on Elitech InGenius. The DNA was amplified with the CMV ELITe MGB® test on Elitech InGenius ™ (Elitech). Diagnostic sensitivity was 100 %. Courtesy of U.O. Microbiology, Pievesestina (FC, Italy).
Agreement between test results obtained with STAR BEADS Pathogen DNA/RNA Extraction Kit and the Reference Nucleic Acid Isolation Kit for the diagnosis of SARSCoV-2 from clinical nasopharyngeal swab specimens. Nucleic acid isolation was performed in parallel using STAR BEADS Pathogen DNA/RNA Extraction Kit on the Auto-Pure32A nucleic acid purification system (Allsheng) and a Reference nucleic acid isolation kit (STARMag Universal Extraction System, Seegene Inc.) on 15 nasopharyngeal swabs (25 of which positive for SARS-CoV-2 and 5 negative). The RNA was amplified in Real Time PCR (RT-PCR) with the procedure currently in use at the Laboratory (Allplex ™ 2019-nCoV Assay, Seegene Inc., on a BIORADTM CFX96® thermal cycler).
